2) Importance of Vitamin D for Pregnant Women and Developing Fetuses
This presentation is directed to the general practitioners and general pediatricians.
The aim of this presentation is to make the audience aware of the great importance of high vitamin D concentrations during pregnancy and lactation.
Included in the talk will be the benefits of vitamin D during pregnancy and lactation, the risks of low serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations.
Some of the risks of low 25(OH) D concentrations include primary Cesarean section, pre-eclampsia, premature delivery, low birth weight, autism, and birth defects.
