Raised veins on my left hand are no longer raised

This page is very different from others on Vitamin D Life.

  • This page reports on the experience of a single person - rather than a large group
  • The single person is myself, Henry Lahore, adminstrator of Vitamin D Life

I tried an experiment in late summer 2014 for about a month - to improve skin on the back of a hand.
Put aloe cream on my right hand every night
Put aloe cream mixed with Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 on my left hand every night

No only does the skin on my left hand look better but it also has fewer wrinkles and the raised veins have gone away.

My right hand looks very different from my left:
My right hand seems to have the same amount of raised veins, wrinkles, and "texture" as it did before the experiment.

I was trying to improve on an experiment that a person I talk with in NZ had done.
He had just added Vitamin D to a cream, with no vitamin K2. an applied it to the back of a single hand.
He reported that the hand looked much better after a month.
He had not controlled for improvement of applying the cream to both hands, but only fortifying the cream for a single hand.

I happened to use both Vitamin D3 AND vitamin K2 - just because I had a liquid which has both.
Just mixed the liquid into a small amount of aloe cream - approximately 1000 IU of Vitamin D per hand
very approximate - something in the range of 200-2000 IU

After the raised veins on my left hand went away I googled
"raised veins" and "vitamin D"
and found many hits, a noticeable number of which mentioned Vitamin K as well.

I have ended my experiment and am now putting aloe with D3, K2 on both hands nightly.

I do know that vitamin D helps the skin in many ways.
I do not know if the vitamin D is needed to reduce the raised veins

Notes about myself which may be relevant - I do not know.
Age 68, have had raised veins on backs of hands for 15-20 years with no pain
High level of vitamin d (> 100 ng/mL) - I take average of 12,000 IU daily during the winter.(50,000 IU once every 4 days)
High level of Omega -3 - take 1 Vetomega every other day
High level of Magnesium - I take Magnesium Chloride.
Other topical treatment possibilities
Add the oil directly to the backs of the hands
Add the oil to DMSO or Prenetrex - both of which carry topical supplements thru the skin ( I use both for other applications)
Add the oil to other skin creams/moisturizers

If the cream you want to use is not compatable with an oil, you might try Bio-Tech Pharmacal form of vitamin D
They use a water-soluble powder

Note: My 102 year old father-in-law
Ken had found in 2013 that using Ultra Blue MSM improved the skin on his face and upper arms
I have added the D3&K2 oil to the MSM, and he is trying it out now (late Sept 2014)
